Need a integrated amplifier

Post by Stacassha » Thu Jan 10, 2019 9:16 am

Good day
My speakers are focal chorus 714. I am looking for a nice amp to power them. I test nad c 338 and arcam a18. Not too impressed. I also have a pair of focal chorus 705 I can play with.

What's your budget? Both amps you tested may be underpowered for your speakers at only 50 watts/channel.

Nice speakers you have! I see the sensitivity and impedance is pretty high. Normal sensitive for most speakers are between 85-88db and impedance is around 8ohms. But I see they can drop down to 4.2 ohms, that’s pretty low. So perhaps you need a powerful amp. Like Hegel amps. But I do think Sugden A21 series we’ll drive them great. It’s only 25 watts. But class a watts are different then class ab amps, and therefore are around 70watts. Good luck.
